GUIDE / THICKNESS SELECTION

10mm vs 13mm plasterboard: what changes?

For the two listed products, both sheets measure 1200 × 2400 mm and cover 2.88 m² before cuts and waste. The 13mm board is 3mm thicker than the 10mm board, but thickness alone does not make one board suitable for every wall or ceiling. Start with the plans, exact product and complete lining system.

Quick answer: both listed 1200 × 2400 mm sheets cover 2.88 m²

The 13mm sheet is 3mm thicker than the 10mm sheet. That measurable difference does not decide the correct board by itself: follow the plans, specification, exact SKU and complete lining-system evidence. A thicker board is not automatically approved for a proprietary wall or ceiling system.

DIRECT COMPARISON

The measurable difference is 3mm. The project difference needs evidence.

Do not infer fire, acoustic, bracing, moisture or ceiling performance from thickness alone. Those claims require the exact board and documented assembly.

SEND WITH THE ENQUIRY

Five details prevent a false comparison.

  • The thickness and product line shown on the plans or specification
  • Whether the sheets are for walls, ceilings or another documented use
  • Sheet width, length, edge and estimated quantity
  • Any fire, moisture, bracing, acoustic or other system requirement
  • Plans, schedule extracts or technical documents that identify the intended assembly
Product weights are not published yet

Harbour Lining Supply will add per-SKU mass, packaging and handling data only after the matching supplier technical documents are verified. Do not use a generic internet weight to plan labour or delivery.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before changing the specified thickness.

01Is 13mm plasterboard better than 10mm?

Not automatically. The correct choice depends on the exact product, complete assembly and documented project requirements.

02Can 13mm replace 10mm?

Only after the plans, specification and relevant system information have been checked by the responsible project professional.

03What belongs in the quote request?

Include thickness, sheet dimensions, quantity, intended use, location, required date and any specialty performance requirement.

NEXT STEP

Send the specified thickness.

Add the project location, quantity and any plan or system reference. The written reply will identify what is confirmed and what still needs product evidence.
